The Singapore River runs right through the city and all along there are some really nice pedestrian walkways, restaurants, shops, and entertainment areas. We visited Clarke Quay where I found a couple of microbreweries and some unusual themed bars. (Clinic, a painfully overpriced hospital-themed bar complete with IV bag cocktails and wheelchairs to sit in, for example.) At the end of the night I happened to notice bright lights and lasers shooting around in the dark area across the river. The park there attracts hobbyists with remote control flying “kites”. Decorated with lasers and LED lights, these planes circle the park making quite a show. Friendly bunch of people as well, happy to chat about what they are doing.
